It is therefore necessary to supply animals with salt regularly. The requirement is at least 1.5 to 2 g of sodium per kg of dry matter (equivalent to approx. 4 g of salt per kg of dry matter).
Salt is the only feed (besides water) for which animals have a specific appetite, meaning they can adjust their intake to their needs. There is neither over- nor undersupply and no waste, as the salt is offered in compact form. Since the need for salt is constant, SEL’PUR salt licks must be available in sufficient numbers for free intake year-round – both in the stable and on pasture.
